STEP #1
Delete the Background

Open Moodle and find your file from the last lesson.

Open this file with Photoshop.

The first way to select and erase something is with the

Quick Selection Tool

Select the tool from the toolbar or hit the keyboard shortcut W

Drag the Quick Selection Tool over the background.

STEP #2

The Magic Wand Tool

The 2nd tool to select and erase something is the Magic Wand.

It is "behind" the Quick Select Tool.

(Hold down the cursor on the Quick Select Tool and you will see more choices, including the Magic Wand!)

Just click and hold the Eraser over what you want to erase and move the mouse back and forth. It works like a pencil eraser!

Here is a neat trick that works with most "brush" type tools.

Look on your keyboard for the "bracket keys". (They are on the top right under the Delete key. Ask me if you can't find them.)

Clicking the left bracket key will make the eraser smaller, and clicking the right bracket key will make the eraser larger!

Last Step

Save Your Work

Go to File > Save As

Save your files to the desktop named as: PeriodNumber-LastName-FirstName-Lesson2.psd

Make sure you have the ".psd" at the end or you will not be able to open your file next time.

Log into Moodle and upload your file from the desktop to Moodle under Lesson2.

Hit the Delete key.

Click the Magic Wand on the background of your image.

Hit the Delete key.

STEP #3

The Eraser Tool

The 3rd tool to delete something is the Eraser.
